Privacy

We can't sell your location data. We never receive it.

Your subscription is the only thing that pays for Trax, so we have no reason to collect more than we need. Your routes are worked out on your phone, then backed up to your private iCloud. Trax never stores a copy on its servers. No ads, no data brokers, nothing sold.

Why we care so much

Movement Data Reveals Your Life

Your routes show where you live, where you work, who you visit, and when you are away from home. Location history is never just coordinates.

We Built This for Ourselves

We use Trax ourselves, and we would not hand our own routes to a company that stores and analyses them. So we built the version we were willing to use.

Most People Never Agreed to This

Permission to sell your data is usually buried deep in a document nobody reads. It clears the legal bar and still takes something people never meant to give up.

What we do collect

A privacy page full of promises is easy to write, so here is the complete list of what reaches our servers.

Your name and email
Whatever Apple passes to us when you sign in. If you use Hide My Email, that is a relay address rather than your real one.
Your subscription status
Whether your subscription is active, so the app knows what to unlock. Apple and RevenueCat handle the payment itself.
A device fingerprint
A hashed install ID, plus coarse signals like country, OS version and app version. These keep your subscription in sync across devices and help us catch fraudulent sign-ups.
Crash reports
When something breaks, Sentry receives the error and the code path that led to it.
Product analytics
PostHog tells us which screens get used and where people get stuck. No ad networks, no data brokers, no third-party trackers.

Your Location and Motion Data

Stored On-Device

Your raw location and motion data stays in local storage on your phone. We never receive it.

Processed Locally

Your phone turns raw movement into trips and mileage totals. A private backup saves to iCloud, not Trax servers.

Blurred Before It Leaves

For features like weather, Trax sends a broad surrounding area instead of your exact coordinates.

Nothing To Hand Over

Your trips stay on your phone and in your private iCloud backup. We do not keep a copy on Trax servers to read, leak, or hand over.

Do Not Map Spots

Add location areas that will not be mapped during your shifts.

Your Account and Subscription

Hide Your Email

Sign in with Apple lets you hide your real address. If you do, we only ever see the relay address Apple gives us.

Payment Methods

Apple processes your payment. Your card details never reach us, and we could not see them if we tried.

Third-Party Services

RevenueCat manages your subscription status on our behalf. You can read their privacy policy here.

Delete It All

Delete your account from inside the app and your record on our servers goes with it. Your trips remain in your private iCloud backup until you delete them there.

That is the whole policy. The legal version just says it with more words.
